Hi there! My name is Catrina Duthie, an experienced wedding, event and party planner, and founder of Fin Flükra. I’m an island girl, born and bred from the Shetland Isles, but I now live near Glasgow. Being a wedding planner in Scotland is incredible, and I love nothing more than organising a good party, whether it’s a wedding, birthday celebration or any other special occasion. For now though, here’s a little bit about me and my background.

I’m the eldest of three sisters. I have two gorgeous step sons. I love a good road trip - this is a recent discovery, with my husband and I having driven the iconic Route 66 across America for our honeymoon. Next on the wish list, the Pacific Coast Highway! When I’m not planning or working at an event, you can find me curled up on the sofa watching a good box-set with my hubby, a cup of green tea and some custard cream biscuits - bliss.

event organiser & creator of celebrations.

When it comes to your wedding, event or party, I help you plan and create your day, your way. Your wedding will be one of the biggest events you’ll ever have to organise. The time and financial commitment required, as well as juggling existing responsibilities, is a daunting prospect. For many couples this can soon become overwhelming, especially as they begin to work through the seemingly never ending to-do list. Add to this the management of various suppliers, keeping on top of a payment schedule, all the while trying to stay on budget.

My unrivalled knowledge and relationships with local venues and suppliers means I can help narrow down the many choices out there, work within your budget, and help bring to life the vision you have for your day - all stress free. I will support you throughout the entire planning process, up to and including the day itself, making sure everything runs smoothly. Allowing you to have fun and enjoy the whole experience from day one, safe in the knowledge everything is in hand and how you want it.

How did I become a wedding planner?

I have worked for over 10 years at management level in both the financial and retail sectors, including a well-known leading British department store. This has provided me with a strong skill-set, including being highly organised, a keen eye for detail and excellent time management. I also have a natural creative flair, being able to visualise and pull together different elements and know how they can work together - a real asset in wedding and event planning.

After successfully organising my own wedding, and a number of events for family and friends, I undertook training with the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners. Shortly after completing my training I took the step into wedding planning in 2016... the rest as they say, is history!

If you’d like to see some of my previous work, you can find that in my portfolio!
