A Magical Cairngorms Elopement By Scottish Highlands Destination Wedding Planner

Intimate Scottish Highlands Winter Elopement - Emily and Adrian

With just over three months from enquiry to Emily and Adrian saying their vows I certainly worked my socks off to pull everything together for this elopement, but it was so, so worth it!

Cairngorms Elopement

Emily and Adrian reached out to me in August 2021, wanting to get married by the end of the year! They were dreaming of an intimate elopement - just the two of them - in the stunning Cairngorms. They had visions of a beautifully curated experience that reflected the two of them and their relationship, allowing them to be fully present and thoroughly enjoy the day together.

The day dawned and there was a light dusting of snow, it was idyllic and so romantic. The Scottish Highlands are one of the most beautiful parts of the world and the Cairngorms National Park is simply stunning. Scotland’s largest national park is home to some of the tallest mountains and most incredible scenery you’ll find in the UK so it was no surprise that Emily and Adrian wanted to ensure there was time for exploring and adventures on their wedding day.

They travelled up to Scotland especially for their day. Emily spent the night in Geordie’s Cottage, Killiehuntly Farmhouse while Adrian was at Glencoe House right in the heart of the Highlands.

They had an absolute dream team of suppliers with them. When you’re having an elopement it’s so, so important to surround yourself with people who are on your side. These suppliers are not just there to do their jobs (although they all do that really well) but they’re also your support network, your voice of calm and the only other people you are both likely to see that day!

Bonny’s Wonderland joined Emily in the morning, chatting away as she got her hair and makeup done. Meanwhile Adrian was on his way over ready for their first look at Killiehuntly. Such an emotional moment!

Scottish Elopement in the Cairngorms

It was really important to Emily and Adrian that they had a faith based ceremony, so we found the quaint Alvie and Insh church, just down the road from Killehuntly. The minister led them in their vows with Emma Lawson Photography and Cinemate capturing the moment as well as acting as their witnesses.

Now, I cannot rave about Emma Lawson and Simon and Gregg from Cinemate enough! They are amazing at what they do, fab people and wonderful to be around on a wedding day. Once Emily and Adrian were officially married they headed off into the mountains for an epic adventure, expertly guided by Emma, Gregg and Simon. Some incredibly beautiful images were captured and Emily and Adrian got to spend some time together, taking in their surroundings and really acknowledging the vows they had just said to each other. With the snow on the ground and the huge pine trees towering above them it felt like they were in a winter wonderland.

While Emily and Adrian were adventuring in the Cairngorms the fabulous Julia and Catherine from Wild Gorse were busy moving their florals - including the amazing floral backdrop - from the church to Killiehuntly. They created a romantic hideaway for Emily and Adrian, filling the glasshouse with flowers and candles. The Lunchbox Boys - brilliant caterers - had put together a spectacular spread for the couple before they moved into the glasshouse for a super special and oh so intimate first dance. What a moment!

The whole day was intimate, romantic and heartfelt, exactly as Emily and Adrian had imagined it. They were present, married in their faith and in beautiful surroundings. They couldn’t have wished for anything more.
