Winter Destination Wedding with Bridal Cape

Sandra and Ira’s destination wedding to Cornhill Castle was every bit as magical as they hoped it would be. This is a wedding packed full of love and personality. Oh. And an epic bridal cape…

Lucky for me that Sandra wanted a romantic winter castle wedding in Scotland because, you know, we do castles. By having their wedding a few days before Christmas, the cheer was already cranked up to ‘extreme high’. By the time their day arrived, everyone was ready to celebrate; creating a day never to forget.

Venue choice included, the pair wove little nods to Disney fairytales into the fabric of their day. As you’ll see, Sandra’s dress was firmly in the princess territory of bridal wear. The dress didn’t wear her. She wore the dress and looked incredible.

I suppose the best phrase to use to describe the day is a hive of activity. Their guests travelled with them, staying at Cornhill, so the party was established well in advance! It’s unsurprising so many of their friends and family accompanied them. Sandra and Ira are one of life’s truly lovely couples. They’re funny, warm and truly adorable.

A word about Ira and Sandra’s ceremony. Ira’s brother is a pastor and he had the honour to conduct their ceremony. Their shared faith is a central part of their relationship. Having a brother lead the two into marriage was incredibly touching. Following on from a beautiful faith-filled ceremony, we embraced the outdoors to get some photos. Their dreamy photographers, Two D Photography, travelled to Scotland to document their wedding. Being a December wedding, it was a bit chilly to hang about outside for too long so heading inside to be entertained by the wizardry of Bill Reid Magic and lulled by the wonderful harpist, Sarah MacNeil was just the tonic. Sandra pulled a fly one by springing a surprise serenade on Ira. Not a dry eye in the house.

Epic shout out goes to Briar Rose Design who created immense floral magic, as ever. Their delicious cake was supplied by the inimitable Clair's Cakes. It must be said that Cornhill looked mighty fine thanks to Green Cockatoo Events & Lily Special Events who helped with the styling. For the reception, the couple, with their merry crowd, danced into the wee hours of the night with an outdoors break for fireworks by 21CC Fireworks.

All in all, a knock out wedding for a knock out pair.
