A Summer Garden Wedding Party at Monachyle Mhor

Summer Garden Party Destination Monachyle Mhor Wedding- Virginia and Alex

Virginia and Alex are a couple after my own heart. Super laid back and all they wanted from their Monachyle Mhor wedding day was a celebration to remember surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

They wanted a wedding that would embrace Scotland and its traditions - from a lochside ceremony to an evening ceilidh. With that in mind the gorgeous Monachyle Mhor was the perfect choice for them. It ticked all the boxes. It’s the most relaxed venue with stunning views and gorgeous scenery, allowing the Scottish landscape to really be part of their day.

A Summer Monachyle Mhor Wedding

Virginia and Alex felt reasonably comfortable planning their day but wanted someone to check in with them throughout the planning process and to help them in the final run up to the wedding. That’s where I came in! They took on my Hourly Planning service along with my Final Few Weeks + On The Day Coordination service. Combining those options made the perfect wedding planner package for their Monachyle Mhor wedding based on the support they needed.

Virginia is American and Alex is from the UK so friends and family from all over the world joined them on the day. They loved that Monachyle Mhor really allowed them to show off the beauty of Scotland. The views from the lawn are just incredible and everyone was in awe of the landscape that could be seen from the lochside.

They’d ‘done the legal bit’ ahead of their day so this was to be a symbolic ceremony. The wonderful Kathryn Ross conducted it with her usual heartfelt emotion and dashes of humour. Their ceremony, on the shores of Loch Voil, was so beautiful and took place under the stunning chuppah that had been created by the amazing Wildflower Workshop. Incorporating Virginia’s Jewish heritage was really important to both her and Alex and this was the perfect way to do it.

Fun, relaxed lochside wedding

Virginia and Alex’s biggest priority was for the wedding to be a fun party that all their guests could enjoy. They did a first look ahead of the ceremony (captured on photographs and film by the super talented Harper Scott) before they joined their guests on the lawn for a few drinks. There was no big reveal, no sticking to traditions, they just wanted to spend as much time with their loved ones as possible.

Virginia and Alex both adore Scotland, they love the mountains, they love the landscapes and they are well aware of the Scottish weather. We always plan for rain here! They’d hired in a load of brollies from Something Borrowed but, of course, the weather was glorious. The sun was splitting the sky and as it turned out, the brollies made perfect parasols to allow some shade from the sunshine!

I loved that Virginia and Alex thoroughly embraced their Monachyle Mhor wedding day, from the start there was a fun party atmosphere and they threw themselves into everything without worrying about things being ‘perfect”. As I always say to couples, “there’s no such thing as a perfect day. It’s as perfect as you allow it to be”.
