Bohemian Pollokshields Burgh Hall Wedding + Pulp Fiction Style First Dance

As a wedding jeweller herself – Candice owns Firewhite Jewellery – Candice and Alan knew early on that they were looking for a relaxed wedding day that reflected them as a couple.

Pollokshields Burgh Hall was just the place to host such a day. Based in a super picturesque park, Candice thought it looked like a “mini Hogwarts” from the outside and had been admiring the stained glass windows when she’d attended yoga classes inside the venue. Having their wedding there also meant that they could do what they wanted with the space and pick all of their own suppliers, rather than have to work from a list of recommended ones. As they got married on a Friday, most of the suppliers they approached were still available, which was even better!

And what an A-Team It was, if I do say so myself! As you can see by the gorgeous photos from The McGlynn Sisters, the day was totally magical. Barbara from Wildflower Workshop worked her floral wizardry on a beautiful asymmetric floral arrangement as well as Candice and her wedding party’s bouquets. Candice and Alan had chosen a Humanist ceremony, which was conducted by the wonderful Gerrie Douglas-Scott of Celebrate People and featured some lovely and personal stories from their time together. To fit in with the relaxed, bohemian theme, Candice wore a beautifully embellished t-shirt from BHLDN with she paired with a light gossamer silk Catherine Deane skirt; her wedding party all chose their own outfits (and we think the jumper and skirt look is INSPIRED.)

After the beautiful ceremony and a trip to the local train station for some portraits with Lauren, we turned the room round for the reception and the epic first dance they both had planned. We greeted them back in – with bubbles, obviously – to a transformed space ready for some delicious Nosh grub and Tantrum doughnuts (a heavenly combination!)

As people who claim they can’t dance – though as I saw some moves on that dancefloor later on, I’m not sure that’s strictly true – Candice and Alan learned the moves from the famous Pulp Fiction dance to surprise their guests. As the band played Never Can Tell, the guests absolutely loved it.

Working with them was, as you can imagine, an absolute dream come true! As my on the day coordination service really starts a few weeks before the big day (it can be a confusing name for some people), I was delighted to be able to pull together their final plans with their awesome suppliers whilst Candice and Alan stayed calm and finalised their own bits and bobs. I’m also totally honoured by their wonderful feedback, which basically sums up why  I love my job so bloomin’ much!

“Cat is a wedding wizard! So many people told us how relaxed we looked on the day and it was all down to her amazing organisational skills. From the very first chat we had on the phone I could tell she really understood us and listened to exactly what we wanted. In the final few weeks she took care of so many big and small details and as we had a few different suppliers I think it was easier for them to have someone that knew what they were doing. Just a few other things she did on the day: made sure our guests knew where they were going, gave us clear options for on the spot timing decisions (we chose to push back the band a little to allow for second food helpings!). made sure we got some moments alone and decorated the venue! I only wish we had found her earlier!”

If you’re looking for some on-the-day wedding coordination to allow you to feel relaxed on the day, please do get in touch – I’d love to chat!
